Through the Trees
In my summer studio I have been working with a lot of different media. "Through the Trees" is a series of abstractions featuring metaphorical organic forms and material investigations. Surfaces and layered shapes and washes interact with different textile surfaces. Themes are memory, nature, perception and biomorphic abstraction.
All pieces are 12x20x1.5 inches in acrylic and mixed media on silk or jute. The series is available for exhibition. Prices and images of the full series on request.
Composed
Composed can refer to a state of mind, to things being put together just right, but it also implies that things are the sum of parts, constantly subjected to the positive and negative energies pulling them together and apart.
The work on "Composed" culminated in a solo show at the Art Center Sarasota. You can see some photos of the show here:

Postcards
These started out as a fun way to record ideas. They are accumulating and sometimes I pull one out as inspiration for a painting. They are almost a loose leaf sketchbook but they stand on their own.
When I come back to the painting studio each Summer, they are on the bookshelf reminding me what I was doing, like postcards from Summers past.
They are mostly 3x5 inches and on paper..

The Forest of Possibility
This is an ongoing series of botanical abstractions in different media I am working on.
The work is being done in a variety of media including acrylic and watercolor painting on paper and canvas, paper pulp/mixed media and ceramic sculptures.
